Vervain, Verbena officinalis
Parts used: Herb.
Constituents: Iridoids, Bitter principle, Tannins, Mucilage, Volatile oils.
Actions: Thymoleptic, Sedative, Diaphoretic, Anti-spasmodic, Galactagogue, Chologogue, Emmenagogue, Astringent.
Indications:
Depression, insomnia, fatigue, generalized seizures, melancholy, migraine, nervous exhaustion, headaches, hysteria +skullcap, neuralgia, epilepsy, stress, to much going on, doing to much.
Febrile, fevers, colds/flu, malaria.
Asthma due to nervous conditions, nervous coughs. And Expectorant, Promotes lactation.
Cholecystalgia, cholelithiasis, jaundice, constipation.
Painful and irregular menses with migraine. Threatened miscarriage, amenorrhoea, dysmenorrhoea. Purgative in large doses.
Externally: Halitosis, dental caries, sore throats, gingivitis.
Herbal extract: 20-40mL per week.
Energetics: Cooling, neutral, bitter, astringent, pungent.
Meridians: lung, liver, kidney, bladder.
Contraindications: Pregnancy.
