Parts used: Herb or fruit.
Constituents: Steroidal saponins, mainly fimostanol glycosides (including protodioscin and protogracillin) and small quantities of spirostanol glycosides.
Actions: Regulator hormones, Aphrodisiac, Diuretic, Antiseptic, Adaptogen, Nervine Tonic, Hypoglycaemic, Antioxidant.
Indications:
Impotence, infertility, sperm count, spermatorrhoea, gonorrhoea, uterine disorders after parturition, libido, menopause, hot flushes.
Cystitis, painful urination, kidney stones, oedema.
Chronic urinary tract infections, urinary gravel and urinary calculi.
To restore or build vitality (especially during convalescence or after surgery), assist in responding to stress; improve physical performance.
Possibly to regulate blood sugar and blood lipids; prevention of atherosclerosis.
Serum lipid peroxidation, lowers cholesterol.
Herbal extract: 40-80mL per week.
